In 1911 the Rylands estate was bequeathed to Stretford Urban district for the nominal sum of £14,500 on the death of John Rylands’s widow, Enriqueta. This formed Longford Park which was later made into a Conservation Area. During this period the Old Lodge was used as the Park Keepers House.
